Orientation for Foundation Students (May intake 2011) + Greenhorn Project

Greetings!

Semesters for degree and foundation students are about to come to an end. And a new batch of foundation students in Architectural studies is about to begin their sem and classes soon. You guys are really welcomed to join our ucsi-architecture-big-family! :)

An orientation was held for the freshmen in the MPH South Wing on last Wednesday. A booth with some outstanding works and models from the students was displayed to represent School of Architecture and Built Environment. The works and models show how and what an architectural students actually work on. And of course, it shows how interesting and challenging this course is.

The excellent works from foundation and degree students:

Lecturers and students looking and asking for more informations on the works:

The hall was flooded with newbies and their parents.

The orientation began with live band performance from the School of Music. It was pretty awesome.

And the event was followed by a speech from the Vice Chancellor, Dr Robert Bong.
Dr Jimmy Mok, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Built Environment was also invited to give a speech about FEABE.
What followed the next was speech from our devoted Dean of School of Architecture and Built Environment, Mr Zani. He has briefly explained what is about the course Architecture Technology and Interior Architecture in UCSI. A few events of SABE and competitions which were taken part by the students last year were also highlighted.
New students were likewise given some talks about the campus, school system and so on. And UCSI new website was introduced and was officially launched. After all these formal talks and introduction, it was finally game time! :D
People visited our booth during the break. ;)

Informal brief for our juniors who are taking foundation before we transferring them to the North Wing. It was quite surprised and sad with the number of students who shown up in this Orientation. It was only around 20 of them and we expected more. Do hope that there will be more students joining when the classes start.

Yea. A great photo of the juniors and seniors. :)
In the afternoon, students were transferred to North Wing for the briefing of their classes and course selection.

After that, it was the big plan for our orientation, which was the Greenhorn project. Each junior was so lucky to be adopted by a senior to guide them in their new environment of studies.

Juniors were so happy to get a senior. And here go the special thank to those seniors who were trying to help out and involving in the Greenhorn project although they were dying for the Final exam. *Claps for them* The spirits shown by them have definitely met the objective of the Greenhorn project as we should help one another because it is better to give than to receive! :)

Once again, good luck for those seniors who are having final exam. While for the juniors, welcome to UCSI! Do hope that you guys will fall in love with architecture and enjoy with it. :)

See you guys around! :)

Sabe Gathering 2011

 Greetings Everyone!

It is a Brand New Year and let's get astounded with what we have here in UCSI!

I believe everyone has been looking forward to a new post ever since this blog was established. We hereby apologize for the late updates. Anyways, this would be our very first entry. Let's make it memorable by sharing the latest events which have been held on campus (19th January 2011).

As the above title states, it was a Major Gathering organized by the School of Architecture and Built-Environment (SABE) where lecturers and architecture students were invited to join the fun and definitely spend an awesome time bonding with one another.

The event initiated at our very own B.O.S Hall where we gathered together anxiously, welcoming the opening ceremony of the Sabe Gathering.

Awards and Certificates were presented to numerous students during this spectacular time. It was a mere acknowledgment of gratitude and honor expressed by UCSI to her outstanding and passionate students.

Here is a group photo of our beloved associate Dean, Mr. Zani (back row, fourth from right), lecturers and students.

Last but not least, one of the photos with our most highly respected Dean, Dr. Jimmy Mok (3rd from left).

The award giving ceremony lasted for approximately two hours until the 'promised' event approached. Undoubtedly, it was the most to die for part of the Gathering for students and perhaps...... the lecturers too? We will see about it then.

Here comes The Tug O Wet!

This was WAR between the design classes ranging from Semester 1-6 (Interior and Architecture) across the waters. Lecturers were required to form a group with their own respective students.

Bet everyone would love to see how determined their lecturers are in terms of winning, no?
Here is one of our lecturers, Mr. Redzwan.

He is definitely not someone you would want to mess around with. Uh-uh.

The atmosphere was filled with vibrant Cheers and Jeers from different teams all over the place. Despite the tough competition, everyone's face was plastered with smiles of joy and laughter.

Some students even took this opportunity to throw their lecturers into the pool.

There goes Mr. Faiz falling frantically into the waters after the shoving of a thousand hands.

Our lecturers are definitely like us, forever young at heart! No questions about that.

The evening came in a blink of an eye or should we say, time flies when we're having fun? It was indeed a splendid time as majority of the people were drenched due to innumerable times of plunging into the pool. Although technically, most (especially lecturers) were shoved but we knew we had the most marvelous pool bash!

Let us not fret but look forward to more upcoming events like this in future!

For we believe in sharing the joy, laughter and amusement together as One body!

Special thanks to the photographers who have been there to capture the perfect moment. If you are interested to view more photos or to be updated regarding the upcoming events, please stay tuned and of course, do visit our Facebook Page!

Have a smashing Weekend and Happy Advanced Chinese New Year Peeps! :)
